The Major Case Response Team is tasked with investigating the biggest cases, including serial killers, high profile crimes, and the difficult to solve crimes that other investigative teams can't handle. The Seven special agents assigned to the team are divided into two smaller units. The first unit, lead by MCRT Unit Chief Kat Florez, is the lead investigative team and conducts undercover missions as may be required.
The second unit, lead by Special Agent Benjamin Pierce, is the Contingency Response Team (For a detailed summary, click the link above.) The CRT is the NCIS version of a SWAT team. Agent Pierce's team conducts tactical operations in support of ongoing investigations, although the agents assigned to the CRT also carry out investigations along with the MCRT.
The Great Lakes Team is unique in that it is the only MCRT in the Agency that current incorporates a Special Weapons team as part of it's unit make-up.
